Preseason Week 1: Jaguars 31 Patriots 24

Even though the Patriots dropped their first contest of 2017, we got a great look at some of the new talent that could be added to the roster for the regular season. Along with the ups their were some downs, especially on the defensive side of the ball. This could have been because nearly every single starter did not take a snap in the game. Instead the Patriots sent out a group of mainly rookies and inexperienced players. To recap I will go through the best and worst performances and game highlights. 

MVP: JIMMY GAROPPOLO 

Via @Patriots on Twitter Jimmy G picked up right where he left off in week 2 of last season. Garoppolo led the offense up and down the field with the help of Tight End Jacob Hollister (#48 Rookie, Wyoming) and Wide Receiver Austin Carr (#84 Rookie, Northwestern). Hollister hauled in 7 passes for 116 yards on 9 targets, while Carr caught 5 passes for 44 yards and a spectacular touchdown catch from Garoppolo at the end of the second quarter. 

Garoppolo finished with 22 completions on 28 attempts for 235 yards and a pair of touchdown passes. He looked sharp running the second team offense before passing the torch off to Jacoby Brisett in the third quarter. His …
