The New England Patriots have made their second batch of transactions of the off-season, releasing offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger and defensive lineman Mike Wright.
The Patriots first series of transactions was to sign seven active roster and practice squad players to contracts for 2012 two days after the season ended. This is the first time New England has parted ways with players since the season ended.
Ohrnberger did not play in any regular-season games this season. He was placed on the injured reserve list with a head injury on September 3. The 6-foot-2, 300-pound center/guard was drafted by the Patriots in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. In his three-year career, Ohrnberger has played in five games.
Wright was also on the IR for most of the 2011 season, but he did play in the season opener against the Miami Dolphins. This was the second consecutive year that Wright's season ended early due to a concussion.
The defensive tackle signed with the Patriots as a rookie free agent in 2005. He has played 81 games for New England and has racked up 174 tackles and 15 sacks.
